The Henley Psychotherapy office in St. Catharines

Meet Dan Zamfir, RP

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist based in St. Catharines, working with adults across Ontario in person and online. My focus is on first responders and athletes, and, more broadly, on the way high-stress work shapes our closest relationships.

Alongside my practice, I co-founded OSRC to support peer programs for frontline workers, and I teach in Continuing Education at Western University. Whatever you're carrying, reaching out is a good first step, and if I'm not the right fit, I'll help you find someone who is.

How We Work

Insurance & Direct Billing

Sessions are often covered under the psychotherapy or registered psychotherapist portion of extended health benefits. Direct billing is available with a variety of insurers, including Green Shield, Manulife, Canada Life, and Cowan, among others.

Direct billing is subject to your specific policy and is not guaranteed. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend confirming your psychotherapy benefits with your provider. Learn more about insurance and direct billing →

Beyond the Therapy Room

Dan co-founded OSRC, the Occupational Stress Response Collective with Kelli Nicholson, helping first responder organizations build and sustain clinically supervised peer support programs for frontline workers. He also teaches and develops courses in Continuing Education at Western University.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only work with first responders and athletes?

No. The practice welcomes adults with all kinds of presenting concerns, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, and relationship issues. First responders and athletes are areas of special focus for Dan, but they're not the only people we work with. Jason Burdon, in particular, sees clients across a broad range of needs.

Do you offer direct billing to insurance providers?

Yes. Direct billing is available with many insurers, including Green Shield, Manulife, Canada Life, and Cowan, among others. This means your insurer can be billed directly rather than you paying out of pocket and submitting for reimbursement. Direct billing is subject to your specific policy and is not guaranteed, so it's worth confirming your psychotherapy coverage with your provider.

What happens in a free consultation?

The free 15-minute consultation is a no-pressure conversation to see if it's a good fit. You can ask questions, share what's going on, and get a sense of how we work before booking a full session. There's no obligation to continue.

What if you're not the right fit for me?

If we're not the right fit, or we're not able to take you on, we'll help point you toward someone who can. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions. That's exactly what the consultation and contact form are for.

Can I access therapy virtually if I'm not in St. Catharines?

Absolutely. Virtual therapy is available to clients across Ontario over secure video. Many clients find the flexibility makes it easier to stay consistent, especially with shift work or travel.
